Del Chancery Court Vacancy

We have previously written about the imminent vacancy on the Delaware Chancery Court that will occur when one of the members of the Court finishes his term in a few weeks. He has decided not to seek re-appointment. The process to fill the vacancy includes an application to and vetting by the Judicial Nominating Commission, who provides a list of three to the Governor. After selection by the Governor from the list, the state senate votes on the appointment. Here is an article about it by Maureen Milford that appeared today in the local Wilmington newspaper. Here are prior posts on the topic.

I wonder if they ever pick candidates with almost no litigation experience, no judicial experience, who are not a member of the Delaware Bar, and who do not (and have never) live in Delaware, but who have devoted 20 years of their life to the study of Delaware corporate law?

Not that I have anyone specific in mind, of course.

Would you really take a Vice-Chancellor job if it was offered? Granted, you'd probably have more impact on corporate law as a VC than even a Supreme Court justice would have, but still, you'd have to live in Delaware. Besides, you've already got VC Strine to quote all your stuff.
