- Obama's stimulus package is doing the economy about as much good as zinc lozenges are doing my cold. The only real difference is that paying for the lozenges isn't going to put the next generation into unsustainable debt.
- Andrew Sullivan's fixation with Sarah Palin is morphing from an idee fixe to meshugaas.
- Jeremy Clarkson's observation that Blairite Britain was "in the hands of overpaid bastards who want to make our lives as miserable as possible" seems wholly applicable to Obama's America.
- The soft socratic teaching method remains pervasive amongst aspiring law teachers. It's just the worst of all possible teaching methods. But no one seems to care.
- "It is not Kristallnach" to think the Army should have worried less about the risk of "'discriminating' against Hasan because of his seemingly extremist Islamic beliefs" than about whether he posed a security risk.
- It is not Kristallnach to think that politically correct multiculturalism is no longer just a threat to academic freedom and free speech, but also to domestic and national security.
- I cannot believe I lost one of my H2H fantasy football league games this weekend by 0.01 points. Fractional points suck. (Except, of course, when they help me win a squeaker. But foolish consistency is a hobgoblin of little minds.)
- Bill Belichick's handling of the end of the Pats-Colts game would only make sense if he had money on the Colts.
- Watching Top Gear is a good way to while away the hours when you're sick. It makes me happy.
- I'm tired. I'm sick. I'm cranky. Very cranky. If you're a student, colleague, editor, or blog reader...think about that before you send me snarky emails about not responding to your prior email. Especially if the first email was asking me to do you a favor. I will get better. But I'll still be cranky.

Hi -
Top Gear is one of the only reasons that the BBC has to exist. I've been watching the very first episodes and while they do show a tendency to date themselves, they remain eminently watchable.
Hope you feel better soon...

You should read Joe Posnanski's defens of Bilicheck. I don't think it was an indefensible decision.
Wasting those time-outs, however....

What an excellent analogy. Those lozenges would help you better if you would just believe. You know, you have to have faith. Like the economy, your immune system is heavily influenced by your emotions. Placebos work, at least some of the time. But you need to get rid of the crankiness, it won't help you. Maybe some whisky?

Bill Belichick's move was the only way to win the game
If payton gets the ball back with 2+ minutes to go, he was gonna win the game. No matter where on field he got it, whether on the Pats 30 or his 1 yard line if payton manning got the balll with a chance to win he was gonna score.
The only way to win was to keep the ball out of P.M.'s hands

The Pats still beat the spread so if Belichek bet on the Colts he still lost his money.
