Chateau Leoville-Las Cases (Saint Julien) 1989

At age 20, this 1989 Leoville-Las Cases was still a remarkably youthful wine. Very deep ruby color. Big nose that suggested leather, dried dark fruits, and cedar. On the palate, there was an intriguing mix of mature flavors (such as leather and tobacco) and young flavors (such as blackberry and blackcurrant). Excellent. Grade: A-/A
