I would love to know what Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson thinks of Audi's Green Police ad.
After all, it was Clarkson who quipped that: "They’re not called Trots and Bolsheviks any more. They’re called environmentalists and health and safety officers. A single health and safety man can inflict more damage on business and industry than an army of Red Robboes."
Update: David Roberts observes that:
The thrill at the end, when they guy gets to accelerate away from the crowd, turns on satisfying the green police -- not rejecting or circumventing them, but satisfying their strict standards. The authority of the green police is taken for granted, never questioned.
Point well taken. Which means Clarkson likely will also have something to say about the fact that it's a German car maker who ran the ad. After all, it was Clarkson who came up with this ad for the Volkswagen Scirocco TDI:

As funny as the first 2/3rds of the commercial was, I have to admit being awfully confused by its message at face value. Green fascism is coming, so buy a car that the authorities will like?!?

It is a car commercial. Just a car commercial.
Chill everybody, chill.

The scary thing is, that apparently smart people at an ad firm think that this add will sell cars-- that is, that when we tell them that the Nazi's are taking over, people will respond with, "Oh--- so how many Jews do I have to turn in to be safe?"
