It's a damned fine question. My vote is that he's always been a bit cracked (a market in babies? really?) and is now mainly concerned with having the liberal writers at the NY TImes say nice things about him in his obituary. Oh, and he's also really pissed off at all the Republican presidents who (justifiably IMHO) passed him over for the Supreme Court.
