Well, we knew this was coming:
New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer will announce Tuesday he will run for governor of the state in 2006, a spokeswoman said.
"He's announcing that he has decided to run for governor," Cindy Darrison said of the state's top prosecutor who has taken on Wall Street for fraudulent stock research, and mutual funds for overcharging customers.
Darrison said Spitzer, a Democrat long expected to enter the governor's race, would issue a statement on his Web site, www.spitzer2006.com, sometime after 11 a.m. ET but would not hold a news conference. (Source: CNN Money)
Longtime readers know I'm no fan of Eliot Spitzer. I shan't rehash the arguments here, but if you want more check out my TCS columns Spitzer v. Grasso and Spitzer Goes over the Line.
