Kerry's Kos post announcing his plan to filibuster Sam Alito gives those of us who opposed Harriet Miers a (presumably unintended) compliment:
Under fire from his conservative base for nominating Harriet Miers--a woman whose judicial philosophy they mercilessly attacked--President Bush broke to extreme right-wing demands.
This was a coup.
The principal definition of coup is:
A brilliantly executed stratagem; a triumph.
Kerry, who served in Viet Nam, presumably meant a coup d'tat, but was afraid to remind people that he's a Francophile given to absurd hyperbole.
