Ann Althouse has had well-deserved success as a blogger (not to mention as a law professor), so I'm mildly appalled to see her candidly admit to sipping Pouilly-Fuiss. For those who don't know their French wines, Pouilly-Fuiss comes from a pair of villages in Burgundy whose wine is made from Chardonnay grapes. Among the cognoscenti, its success is attributed not to the quality of its wine, but to the fact that Americans and other English-speakers like saying the name. To be blunt, Montrachet it ain't. Heck, it isn't even Meursault.
