Brian Leiter has released the results of his latest "ranking of the top 35 law faculties based on a standard 'objective' measure of scholarly impact: per capita citations to faculty scholarship." There's a good discussion of the methodology and a candid analysis of the limitations of citation counts.
So how'd we do? UCLA ranked 10th by mean per capita impact, with the 10 most frequently cited scholars being: "R. Abel, S. Bainbridge, K. Crenshaw, J. Kang, R. Korobkin, L. LoPucki, N. Netanel, K. Stone, L. Stout, E. Volokh." What's interesting about that list (to me) is that for a school long known as a center of public law, 6 of the most productive scholars on are faculty are exclusively or, at least, primarily focused on private law (me, Korobkin, LoPucki, Netanel, Stone, and Stout).
