Vice President Joe Biden joined House Democrats in lashing tea party Republicans Monday, accusing them of having “acted like terrorists” in the fight over raising the nation’s debt limit, according to several sources in the room.
Biden was agreeing with a line of argument made by Rep. Mike Doyle (D-Pa.) at a two-hour, closed-door Democratic Caucus meeting.
“We have negotiated with terrorists,” an angry Doyle said, according to sources in the room. “This small group of terrorists have made it impossible to spend any money.”
Let's set aside the overblown rhetoric, even though it's over the top even by Democrat standards. Even with the cuts the debt deal will require, the federal government will still spend in excess of $3.5 trillion in 2012 alone. On top of which, "according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, the nation is on pace to add another $7.7 trillion-$8.7 trillion to its debt over the next decade." Yet, somehow, Rep. Doyle thinks the federal government won't be able "to spend any money.”
With all due deference, which isn't much, Mike Doyle is an idiot.
