It being my birthday, we ordered steaks from Craig's and opened one of my favorite wines: a 1993 Ridge Monte Bello. Medium ruby color, having thrown a fair bit of sediment. After decanting and breathing for 45 minutes, it presented a complex bouquet of leather, cedar, dried currants, and prunes. Ditto the palate. Still surprisingly tannic on the finish, with gripping acidity. Good, but probably slightly past peak. Grade: 90
