Sea Smoke produces an atypical California Chardonnay. Sure,it's a big wine with plenty of oak, vanilla, and buttery notes, but it is also perfectly balanced. Good tropical fruit (pineapple, mango, guava, some citrus (mostly lemon), and a touch of flint. Bright acidity makes it more food friendly than a lot of California Chardonnays.
Speaking of food, I served it with seared scallops with a corn coulis. A delicious meal and a perfectly matched wine. Highly recommended.
