Dinner tonight was short ribs in pomegranate juice and a sweet potato gratin from Paleo Perfected. The Lytton Springs was a nice complement. It's still a big, firm wine with a potent tannic and acidic structure to support much longer aging than one normally associates with Zinfandel. Despite having thrown a moderate amount of sediment it is still an incredibly deep purplish ruby. Good complex bouquet of blackberry, blackcurrant, star anise, and pepper. Ditto the palate with an herbal element on the finish. I suspect the next time I try it, the grade will go up. Right now, however, since it's still developing I'll give it an 89.
