It's Helen's birthday weekend, so we're on night one of a three-day festival. For dinner tonight I made maple syrup-glazed pork chops using a recipe from Paleo Perfected with Spanish-style sweet potatoes. Yum.
To accompany it, I poured the 2008 Sea Smoke Southing. I did not decant it, which was a minor mistake as the last glass ended up as sludge, but the wine was otherwise quite enjoyable. Deep ruby color. Big bouquet of rose petals, blackberry, raspberry, and red cherries. Ditto the palate, with a dash of oriental spice and cola. Very drinkable now but will hold. Grade: 93
